Twyla trailed her hand along the curved spines of the books as she read the titles and tried to decide which one she wanted to start with. She had never seen so many books in her life! On the Isle of the Lost, books were very hard to find and nearly impossible to get a hold of, as were most things. There, it had seem like everything was a commodity that had to be barter for and sold at a high price. You had to have very secure connections just to obtain the simplest things.
At Auradon Prep, it seemed like most people had grown up with too many things, at least that's how it seemed to Twyla. There was so much of everything, what was a luxury to her, seemed everyday objects to the rest of the students, at least the ones who had grown up on the mainland. Quickly Twyla scanned the shelves to see if there was anyone else around. No, she was still alone. She let out a grateful breath, she was still unsure of the other students. Of course she wanted to make friends, it would be nice to have a few that weren't going to stab her in the back the moment they thought it would be beneficial to them. However, couldn't help feeling uncertain every time she was around new people, or even people she knew. After all, how could she be certain that she could trust any of them?

As Twyla thought, she continued to peruse the books and whispered the book titles to herself as she tried to decide what she wanted to read. Finally, she found one, a collection of poetry. As she reached for it, Twyla's hand brushed the hand of another person who had also been about to take the book.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" She said, snatching her hand back. "I, did you want that, book?" She asked tentatively.
