Finally free from the class, the young girl sat alone in the bookstore, glad to be back amongst the books, Fukawa sat on the ground and opened up one of the many books she had been studying. "This time for sure Luna, I'm going to shift into an animal." she told the cat beside her. Closing her eyes, the girl focused. Focused with all her might. She wouldn't be a loser or a failure to her mom anymore.
Even the sound of the door opening didn't draw her attention away

Twyla quietly walked into the bookshop and looked around her. She smiled and took a deep breath, breathing in the smell of dusty pages, old books and scrolls. This was home, this was familiar to her. She had always felt at home around books. They had been her friends, her only friends when she lived on the Isle of the Lost. She had never really bonded with the other children as her father had always discouraged contact with them and she had never felt any wish to connect them. Now, Twyla couldn't help wondering if her lack of interest was due to her father's influence on her mind.
As she thought about this, Twyla didn't realize that there was another person in the shop until she nearly bumped into her. "Oh! I'm sorry, please forgive me." She said as she looked down at the girl reading. "I did not see you. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Twyla. May I ask who you are?"

The girl's eyes flashed for a second as it looked liker her body was about to shift only to have it stop halfway. Fukawa pushed her glasses up. "DARN IT!" she muttered angrily, slamming the book down. Her red eyes met the girl who had introduced herself. "Twyla daughter of Sarousch," she said more to herself as if committing it to memory.
Her red eyes narrowed a bit. "I-I-If you must know its Fukawa." she said bitterly.
[Fukawa is like this with everyone just so you know]

((No worries.))
Twyla blinked, startled by Fukawa's loud reaction. She realized that she may have interrupted something important that the girl was doing. "I'm sorry, I did not mean to intrude." Twyla said quietly, almost to herself. She felt a sense of suspicion when the other girl realized her parentage but then she realized that just because she did not know many of the other children, that did not know that the other villain children did not know who she was.
"It is lovely to meet you, Fukawa." Twyla said simply, even if it wasn't really. The other girl was a bit rude and closed off. Then again, Twyla wasn't the most open person herself. "May I inquire what you are studying?"

Fukawa a bit taken back by the fact that Twyla was not offended by her reaction. "Uh, right." Lovely wasn't a word she would have thought to describe their current meeting. "It's nothing much. Just...just trying to study shapeshifting." she rubbed her arm uneasily. "It's kind of a....family tradition."
Her red eyes saddened slightly. Family tradition to everyone but her. Apparently.

Twyla cocked her head thoughtfully as she analyzed what Fukawa had told her and her reaction to her own statements. It was clear that this 'family tradition' was not shared by all and that was obviously an issue for Fukawa. "I see." Twyla said as she sat down in front of the other girl. She peered at the book, trying to get a glimpse of the title and the contents of the book.
After spending a few minutes studying the book, Twyla asked, "Do you know where I could find some books on illusions or dream magic?" If this girl was a shape-shifter then she was mostly likely a magic user. Therefore, it was possible that Fugawa would be able to direct her to the correct kinds of magic books. Perhaps, if Twyla understood her father's magic better, she would be able to deal with her nightmares better.

Fukawa gave a small snarky smile. "Do I know where they are. Of course I do." she said, "My mom runs this place." She shrugged her shoulders. "Or she would if she cared," Negative girl was negative. But that didn't bother her that much. Slowly cleaning the dust off her skirt, Fukawa stood up and started walking towards the shelves, that held the books.
"Are you looking to be a magician?"

Twyla kept her face blank and said nothing in response to the girl's snarky comment, she just waited patiently for the Fukawa to direct her to the books. Although, when Fukawa made the comment about her mother, a sympathetic and sad look to cross Twyla's face. Something about what Fukawa had said reminded Twyla of her relationship with her father. However, the look did not last long and quickly, Twyla's face was once more under her control and back to a reserved, neutral state.
She stood up and cleaned the dust off her own skirt before following Fukawa to the bookshelves. She cocked her head. Did she want to be a magician? It was not an option she had considered before. "I had not considered that idea." She said after some thought. "I would say my interest in this topic is more from a theoretical point of view. I merely wish to understand how Dream magic works and how one might defend against it. I had not considered learning to master the art itself." Twyla stated.

Fukawa blinked, she had never heard of Dream Magic. "What's dream magic, you know...not that I care." she pushed one of her braids behind her. "I just have never heard about that kind before." Her mother certainly had never taught her about that kind of magic, darkness and shapeshifting that's all.
Her red eyes however did hold a light of interest. If anything, Fukawa was just interested in knowledge.

When Fukawa started asking about Dream Magic, Twyla paused. Her face became rigid and stiff, as if she was trying to keep herself in tact. "It is..I..It is..." She kept faltering as memories of her nightmares started rising up. No, not now, right now she was safe. Her dreams and nightmares could not reach her in the waking world. She took a breath and tried again. "I know very little about Dream Magic myself. As far as I understand it, it is allows a user to manip-maniulate another person's d-dreams and nig-nightmares. Even to the point of creating dreams and nig-nightmares for them."
Twyla closed her eyes for a moment and took a couple deep breaths. It was hard for her to talk about Dream Magic and anything to do with dreams and nightmares in general. It was all so traumatic for her because of how her father had used his dream powers on her. With her eyes still closed, Twyla whispered, "My father used D-Dream ma-magic."

Fukawa nodded, not urging the girl to say anymore. She could tell what was going on with her. It was a family thing, the young girl remembered how hard it was when she started learning how to shapeshift. "You don't need to explain, I get it." she said quietly, trying to sound sympathetic. "It sounds like a horrible magic if it fell into the wrong hands."

Twyla gave a weak laugh. "It is rather dangerous. We do not often realize how much the mind relies on and is affected by.....dreams." Carefully, Twyla opened her eyes once more. When she did so, the shaky and vulnerable girl was once more hidden away behind a mask of reserved calm and seriousness. There was little emotion to be found in it and if Fukawa had not been there to witness Twyla's previous distress, she would have never known that it existed. "As a result, it is imperative that I learn how to defend myself on a mental level. Do you have any suggestions that I could look into?" Twyla asked.

Fukawa almost wanted to say something snarky. She had no interest in dream magic, just shapeshifting magic. "Have you tried a dreamcatcher?" she asked sarcastically. "I mean i have heard those work very well for kids, but maybe you can put in some magic of your own to protect your mind, like a mental one?"
It was the best she could do and really the only thing she could think of offering. "I mean, I am sure that there's got to be something like that, people have done it before?"

Twyla gave Fukawa a long look. "Yes. I have. In fact, when I was a child I often made them myself because I read that they were supposed to be more potent when you made them yourself. It never worked." She said pointedly. Realizing that she was being rude, Twyla paused and took a deep breath. There was no need for her to be rude or take out her feelings on others. "That was, unecessary. Please, forgive me." It wasn't a bad idea, the dream catcher. The idea of a creating a mental one could work, if only she understood magic. Once she was calmer, Twyla began again. "The idea of a mental dream catcher could work I guess. However, I never learned magic. I don't even know if I have any magical ability." Twyla said.

"I don't know much about magic, other than the stuff my mom taught me, or rather forced me to learn. Shapeshifting and darker magic. I think she kind of gave up on it though when she realized I can only shapeshift into people." Fukawa shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. There was no reason to think about her mom at the moment. It was too complicated and discouraging.
"W-w-we may have some books about mental magic, i-if you want to look at them."
